Katie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Master of Science in Counseling and Education, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Settings. Katie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Science and a minor in Sociology. Katie enjoys working with individuals of all ages, but has a passion for working with children, adolescents, and college students. Katie has experience working with grief, trauma, loss, developmental concerns, severe mental illnesses, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, and anxiety disorders. Katie utilizes a Person-Centered approach and believes that each client who walks into the room has a unique story that deserves to be honored within the counseling relationship. Katie has additional training in Mental Health First Aid, Koru Mindfulness, Grief Counseling, Adlerian Play Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapy. Katie is certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and the Modular Approach for Treating Children and Adolescents with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and Conduct (MATCH). In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her fur babies; Newton, a Bengal cat, Foxtrot, an Australian Cattle Dog, and Oliver, a Yorkshire Terrier; reading books; hiking; crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends.
