New Position Announcement: Early Childhood Behavioral Specialist
Position Description:
The specific services required for a Early Childhood Behavioral Specialist (ECBH) include individual and staff case consultations, center site visits, behavioral therapeutic services and parent/staff in-service training.
ECBH will be paid $45 per hour, $20/hr. for travel, and $.45 for mileage. Position will involve 10-15 hours per week and will be funded until May 31, 2020.
Family Solutions can provide qualified clinical staff to offer each of the following services:
Behavioral Specialist: Individual Consultation with Staff, Parents, and Children
- Children, parents/caregiver(s) and Child Care Center staff will receive individual consultation on an as needed basis to address mental health and behavioral concerns.
Consultation services include:
- Center site visits to include classroom observation and assessment.
- Individual time and “hands on” coaching with the child in the classroom setting.
- Individual sessions with referred children on-site at Private NC Pre-K sites (optional direct service- agency is credential with local MCO to bill Medicaid and provide medically necessary services when appropriate).
- Individual sessions with parents regarding parenting issues and strategies to effectively address presenting behavioral concerns in the home.
- Consultations with teachers and staff to develop effective strategies to address difficult behaviors in the classroom.
- Provide referrals to other community resources and services.
- Provide monthly reports detailing services and complete all necessary documentation.
Center Site Visits
- Family Solutions’ Behavior Specialist will be available to parents/caregiver(s) and childcare center staff at identified Private NC PreK sites to discuss both general and specific mental health concerns. This can all be documented and posted at centers to ensure that standards for mental health consultation are met. Site visits would entail scheduled visits to all classrooms in each center and would occur at a minimum of once a month or as needed.
Consultation with Child Care Center Staff
- Family Solutions’ Behavioral Specialists will attend necessary staff meetings for community referrals, consultation and coordination. In addition, the MHC staff will complete all necessary paperwork and documentation that is required. It is also expected that the MHC staff will coordinate services with center staff and other appropriate sources familiar with the child through regular direct contact, phone calls and/or email updates.
A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field and full licensure is expected. Applicant must provide documentation of licensure. In-service and training on current evidence-based practices are available to our staff (see our current service array on our website for more details).

Clinical supervision at no charge is provided to staff to ensure quality care to children, adolescents, adults, and families.
