More than 20 years ago we fell in love with Greensboro. It started when kids and families at Head Start stole our hearts. Our agency was born out of a deep desire to serve downtown Greensboro and has grown to reach our neighboring communities. We’ve served families on playgrounds, in childcare centers, in offices and homes all over four counties. We have been heartbroken and furious over so many obstacles that exist in our little world. The poverty, hunger, injustice and inequality in our community is devastating. Family Solutions put its stake in the ground to continue serving the hurting, marginalized and forgotten even when changes in mental health services made it difficult to stay in business. Because the families we serve matter. Dignity matters. Big change starts small, but at this moment the voice of change is growing. Our community is collectively holding the pain and suffering of oppression and division, on top of a pandemic. We are searching for how to carry this weight together.
Since the very first day of this agency, our core values have been commitment, compassion and community. Never has the need been greater to offer healing and care to our neighbors and to each other. As a group of clinicians on the front lines, we daily stand against racism, injustice, oppression and hatred with everything we have. We stand for active kindness, thoughtful questions, and deep listening with a willingness to be changed by what we hear. It is time to carry this pain together.
Our therapists are kind. They have the heart for this work above all else. And they are also highly trained and carefully supervised in many types of trauma treatments - ready to help meet the needs rising up in our community. Our team of almost 40 clinicians come from a variety of backgrounds, with many specialties and life experiences behind them. We hope you will take the time to get to know us.
What we have to offer to our right now is what we do best – sharing practices that work, both in our offices and in our community. For example, one of our therapists, Rossana Magalhaes, is offering a free virtual mindfulness training at the Greensboro Public Library on Tuesdays in June at 7pm.
